St. John the Evangelist Parish is a Catholic
Community centered in Frederick, Maryland consisting of many people with diverse backgrounds and talents. As a People of God, we wish to proclaim the Good News that God so loved the world that He gave HIS only Son, so that, in believing in Him, we might have eternal life; that Jesus died for us, rose from the dead, and will come again in glory; and that the Holy Spirit lives in us, empowering all people.
We also proclaim that through the Word and the Eucharist we are nourished. We come together as a Christian family in worship, learning, service, and fellowship. We strive to meet one another with acceptance and forgiveness and to encourage each individual's gifts. Called by our Baptism, we strive to act as Jesus did as a servant and a healer to all peoples, especially, the poor in body, mind, or spirit; to teach as Jesus did to all ages; to seek the relief of human suffering as Jesus did by working for justice and peace for persons of every need.
And finally, we recognize that this love of our sisters and brothers represents a challenge to commit ourselves to action as individuals, as a parish, and as a larger community of the different traditions of the Body of Christ.
