FIRST RECONCILIATION

The Faith Formation Office assists parents in preparing their children for First Reconciliation. We are pleased to support you as the “domestic church” and look forward to helping as you prepare your child/ren to receive this sacrament.  A child is eligible to begin the process of preparing for Reconciliation if they are in Grade Two or above.  They must also have at least one prior year of Faith Formation, either in the Sunday program, Family program, Home Based (neighborhood), or one of the local Catholic Schools.  We are excited about our sacramental materials as they are family based which allow you, as the parent/guardian, to teach and share your experiences of the sacraments with your child.

The process begins with a parent meeting where you will be provided with the texts for First Reconciliation and any questions you may have will be answered.  We offer a family day in November, we invite the whole family to help prepare your young person for the sacrament.  Most of the children will receive First Reconciliation in December, during the season of Advent.  In accordance with the Catechism of the Catholic Church, children must be prepared to receive the sacrament of Reconciliation prior to their preparation for First Eucharist.
